The creamy texture and bold flavor make these garlic mashed potatoes a favorite at any dinner table. The gang will sing nothing but praise as they sample this side at the next potluck.

What You'll Need

  • 6 medium-sized red potatoes (about 2 pounds), washed and cut into chunks
  • 8 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1/3 cup fat-free sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. Place potatoes and garlic in a soup pot and add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook 20 to 25 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender; drain and place in a large bowl.
  2. Mash potatoes and garlic along with remaining ingredients, until smooth and well blended. Serve immediately.

I READ THE nutrient info. It's missing one thing got us following a strict much is a serving? It talks about potion control but how much should a potion be? A table spoon, cupful????

Hi there! The serving size for this recipe is 1/2 cup. You can find the serving size for each of our recipes in the right hand corner of the recipe's page, located underneath the cooking time. Enjoy!

Question Can these mashed potatoes be made in advance? I am able to prepare a non-diabetic recipe 5 days ahead of time. On the day of the feast, I put them in a crock-pot with a pat of butter on top and heat until warmed. Can I do the same with this recipe???? Thank You.

Hello! - Yes, you can certainly prepare these ahead of time and then reheat in the slow cooker. - Enjoy!
